A custom skylight solution to enhance a national institution.
Lux Imperium (formerly SimpleMotion Lighting) was engaged by the National Film and Sound Archive to deliver a bespoke lighting upgrade for two significant heritage skylights within its iconic Canberra building—formerly the Australian Institute of Anatomy. The project required a sensitive, high-performance solution that enhances ambient light levels while preserving the heritage fabric and complying with strict conservation requirements.
In collaboration with lighting designer Ben Cisterne, our scope included fixture selection, mounting design, structural engineering, integration with the existing Casambi control system, and an environmentally conscious design. The solution provides RGBW colour mixing, delivered even hotspot-free illumination, and easy access for ongoing maintenance.
